PER Skills and behaviours - Growth Mindset

This competency can at times be interpreted broadly. Strong responses typically go beyond simply addressing gaps in an applicant’s existing skillset and instead demonstrate how individuals actively seek out solutions to business or organisational challenges through creativity and initiative.

Applicants should provide examples that reflect a genuine growth mindset, including:

  • Taking the initiative to learn new skills, either within their current role or by pursuing new opportunities
  • Demonstrating self-directed learning and personal development, including reflection on what was learned and how it was applied
  • Stepping outside of their comfort zone by taking on new challenges or responsibilities
  • Applying newly acquired knowledge or skills in practice, particularly where these contribute to improved outcomes
  • Developing capabilities beyond the CIMA syllabus, such as Excel, IT, data analysis, or other technical and professional skills

This is one of the more flexible categories. Strong evidence will show not only learning, but also how that learning has been applied in a meaningful way.
