Reasons PER applications were deferred August 2026
The comments below highlight common reasons in August 202 why students were asked by the membership assessors to provide additional information on their PER applications.
Remember, if an application is deferred, it's just the assessor wanting additional information to understand your experience as they want to pass as many students as possible
Assessor Feedback
What It Means
I have measured performance
Very general description
The application is brief and lacks detail for the assessor to understand what you personally did and achieved.
Leadership
The competency requires demonstration of leadership.
The example describes an activity or outcome, but does not clearly show how you led, influenced others, managed change, coordinated stakeholders, or drove the result.
I have implemented strategic decisions
Producing a budget is not the same as implementing a strategic decision.
The example focuses on budgeting rather than demonstrating involvement in evaluating, recommending, or implementing a strategic business decision.
Employment summary
Unclear as to any experience in management accounting related activities.
The assessor cannot see evidence of management accounting activities such as budgeting, forecasting, business case development, variance analysis, performance reporting, or decision support.
I have evaluated opportunities to add value
I am looking for your experience in evaluating an opportunity.
The example does not sufficiently explain how an opportunity was assessed, what techniques were used, what analysis was performed, and how conclusions were reached.
Overall Assessor Message
Assessors are generally asking candidates to provide more evidence of how they personally applied the competency, explain their judgement and actions in greater detail, and clearly demonstrate the business impact of their contribution.
