Hi Harry,
For me the hardest part was starting; the actual sitting down and reading through everything, knowing where to find everything I needed to guide me, understanding what was expected for the PER and then brain storming example pieces of my work and how they would fit with the different skills, behaviors and core activities. I did use the guidance notes, and I sat with my manager to help me brain storm work examples. I found this part of the process quite difficult....initially my mind was just a blank. Examples of how others have navigated this part of the process would be helpful.
Once I'd got my head around that and decided which pieces of work to use as examples, the writing was fairly straight forward. (Lack of time is a different issue) I found the STAR examples really helpful with this process. It would be good to see more STAR examples, maybe for each of the different categories or ideas for example pieces of work and where they fit. Not everyone works in the private sector so some examples for Not-For-Profits/NHS/Government would also be really helpful.
I found the navigation of the web site quite clunky initially, I also joined a FB group for PER where individuals who have had difficulties navigating the process have posted to help others navigate it. I'd like to see more details/guidance notes on what should happen and when especially after submitting a PER. A lot of individuals seem to get confused and stuck once they've submitted their PER with some commenting that weeks go by and certain flags appear on their submissions etc... and don't know who to go to initially, so having direct access to the membership team is essential through this process.
I think posting twice a week is a good level, any more than that and I think it would be too much for individuals to find time to read the information/keep up. Especially if you're working full time and have a family at home. (As I do)
I joined, like others have commented, to find examples of work and also which category they've fitted it into and a better understanding of what to do and not to do, to help me with mine. Like minded individuals for support and to ask the 'idiot' questions when i get stuck. I've spotted the video on the use of AI, which I also think is a key piece of information for individuals. (About to watch it this morning) Having access to everything in one place is really key, so individuals are not wasting their time searching around for things across the CIMA web site. For example the number of times i've forgotten where the log in is to my PER application....
Thank you for arranging this space as I think it's really needed.
