Looking back on tax season, I'm feeling really grateful - and honestly, really encouraged.
We just wrapped up what was our firm's most profitable tax season ever, and we did it while hard capping at 45 hours firmwide. That feels worth celebrating.
For a long time, there's been this assumption in public accounting that a "successful" season has to come with extreme hours and burnout. This season felt like proof that it doesn't have to. We saw real progress in moving clients through a more technology-focused process, and that shift is continuing to pay off in efficiency, consistency, and overall experience for both our team and our clients.
And one of the biggest wins? We're coming out of the season with momentum - not just exhaustion.
I already spent time today registering for ENGAGE and booking my hotel, which felt like a great way to start looking forward. Tomorrow is all about celebrating with my family - Topgolf, our favorite restaurant, ice cream, playgrounds, and a little shopping. And beyond that, I'm being intentional about protecting what's next by proactively blocking "me time" on my calendar for workouts and offline time.
A successful season is great. A successful season that still leaves room for learning, family, and recovery feels even better.
A few questions for the group:
What are you most proud of from this past tax season?
Did your firm make any changes that improved results and sustainability?
And as things slow down, what are you doing now to recharge before the next push?
