As the accounting and finance profession prepares for the future, one question I continue to reflect on is: What practices, assumptions, or ways of working should the profession reconsider?

For decades, our profession has been built on consistency, technical expertise, and established processes. While those strengths remain critical, emerging technologies, changing workforce expectations, and evolving stakeholder needs challenge us to rethink how work gets done, how professionals are developed, and how value is delivered.

I'm interested in hearing different perspectives. What long-held assumptions should we question, and what changes are necessary to ensure the profession remains relevant, innovative, and attractive to future generations of professionals?
