I try to signal allyship by trying to be friendly to everyone, opting to include my pronouns in our corporate directory, and keeping a pride flag sticker on my folder/notebook- I think it expresses an unconditional acceptance that many marginalized groups may be receptive to / more comfortable around.

Thank for you starting this thread, Brittany! And thank you to the LGBTQ+ Community and Jennifer for the great article that helps guide organizations on inclusive travel policies.

Regarding practices that I see at the AICPA, I love the way we aim to use inclusive language, respecting names and pronouns, and normalizing pronoun sharing without forcing disclosure. I also see dedication in creating a culture where people are given grace when they make mistakes, encouraged to apologize, learn, and do better without fear of of being penalized for honest mistakes. By modeling these behaviors consistently, it creates psychological safety for transgender employees and allies and it reinforces respect across the organization.
