In a world where AI and RPA are increasingly ruling the roost, where do we see the future of the management accounting profession?

One quick observation would be to align with technology not merely at the core, but also at the seam - the seam between technology and judgement.

Secondly, we must strive to be more intelligent than the machine, meaning we remain the human-in-the-loop, rather than allowing the machine to dictate terms.

This is where human ingenuity, skill-based application, and the ability to comprehend the vagaries and limitations of machines will continue to matter.

I agree, and I'd add that this "seam" between technology and judgement is also where professional responsibility now sits.
As AI and RPA take on more execution (hard trend), the distinctive value of management accountants shifts toward accountable judgement under uncertainty and, drawing on an anticipatory mindset, the ability to see what is likely to matter next, not just what systems can optimise now.
The opportunity for the profession is to engage and adapt to this future deliberately, with intention, shaping decisions and outcomes rather than reacting to change after it has already been set in motion.
