Favorite time of the year for accountants?

  • 1.  Favorite time of the year for accountants?

The seasonality of public accounting has always been one part of the job that I don't mind (audit at large firm). Generally, we are busiest during the cold months, January through April, when there tends to be less going on personally. Then things generally 'slow' down when the weather is better, vacations happen, sports are back (hockey and football for me), and then the holidays come around again. Over the last several years, though, it seems that workloads have become more consistent throughout the year for a variety of reasons. Some reasons are due to career progression, the industry has changed significantly, client demands, and on a personal note a growing family has made me work on time management even more.

I'm curious to hear from others who have taken different CPA career paths or even if you are in public and agree/disagree. What is your favorite time of year professionally, and has that changed as your career has progressed? What makes that season your favorite?
