  • 1.  End of year reflection: what advice would you give your younger self?

As the year comes to a close, what's one piece of advice you'd give your younger self?

I would advise my younger self to prioritize impact over perfection, make decisions with the information you have, communicate clearly, and trust that alignment and consistency matter more than getting everything exactly right.

If you work in private industry, your highest earnings are 3-5 years after you get out of college. Because as you get older, the probability of getting laid off increases and the probability of finding another job at your current salary level diminishes. Yes age discrimination is alive and well. The early you strike out on your own, IMHO the better off you are.

Prioritize impact over perfection! I love that, Xing! Thank you so much for sharing.

I would tell my younger self to trust the journey a bit more. Specifically, I'd say: be your own biggest advocate and prioritize your well-being. It's easy to play it safe, but the real magic happens when you say 'yes' to opportunities that feel like a risk. Trust your gut, take the leap, and see where the road takes you.
