Indonesia continues to play a defining role in shaping the future of the finance and accounting profession across the region. During a recent leadership visit to Jakarta, AICPA & CIMA engaged with key stakeholders including Danantara Indonesia, Ikatan Akuntan Indonesia (IAI), PwC Indonesia and senior finance leaders across the public and private sectors.

Across these engagements, discussions focused on strengthening finance capabilities, addressing evolving skills gaps and advancing collaboration to support Indonesia’s future-ready talent agenda.

A key meeting with Danantara Indonesia explored opportunities to enhance finance capability building and support the upskilling of professionals to meet evolving business needs, with a strong emphasis on leadership, workforce readiness and long-term talent development.

The delegation also met with Ikatan Akuntan Indonesia (IAI) to explore future collaborations aimed at strengthening finance talent pipelines and expanding professional education pathways for finance and accounting professionals in Indonesia.

Strategic discussions with PwC Indonesia focused on advancing joint initiatives in employer engagement, capability building and supporting organisations in navigating the evolving role of finance in business transformation.

Beyond stakeholder meetings, the Future-Ready Finance Roundtable “How Skills, Technology, and Productivity Are Shaping Indonesia’s Next Phase” brought together CFOs, regulators, academia and senior finance leaders for candid and forward-looking discussions.

Key themes included:

  • Future finance capabilities and leadership
  • AI and digital transformation
  • Talent and employability challenges
  • The expanding role of finance in strategy and decision-making
  • Building agile and future-ready organisations

The insights gathered will contribute to a forthcoming point of view on shaping Indonesia’s future finance capability agenda.

The visit also included engagements with finance leaders from SMBC Indonesia and Cimory Group, where conversations centred on talent and employability challenges, evolving expectations of finance professionals, and the increasingly strategic role finance leaders play in driving business decisions and organisational transformation.

The visit was led by @Venkkat Ramanan, Regional Vice President - Asia Pacific, supported by @Saritha Subramaniam, Regional Director -  Southeast Asia, reflecting AICPA & CIMA’s continued commitment to deepening partnerships across the region.

Strong partnerships and meaningful collaboration remain critical as we collectively shape a more agile, resilient, and future-ready finance profession for Indonesia and the wider region.
